It is absolutely the case that Farid Abboud has had a long and significant career in service to his home country of Lebanon. That experience goes well beyond his ambassadorships, in which he was the Lebanese ambassador to the United States, Tunisia and now, China. At one point, he was the assistant director-general of the Department of Political Affairs in the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he served as Lebanon's General Counsel in Los Angeles throughout the 1990s.
Perhaps the key to Farid Abboud’s long career may be his impressive level of education. He earned a Diploma of Higher Studies in Political Science from Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut and he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Lyon in France and a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also passing on his education and knowledge. In addition to teaching at Université Saint-Joseph for a time, Farid Abboud has also been part of Lebanese delegations to many international conferences, including U.N. General Assembly Sessions in 1997, 1998 and 1999. While serving as the Lebanese Ambassador to China, he has also served as a visiting scholar at the University of Peking since 2015.
