Of course, Farid Abboud can proudly point to a long and significant career in service to his home country of Lebanon, but his experience actually goes beyond his highly-regarded ambassadorships, to the United States, Tunisia and now, China. Years ago, he also served Lebanon as the assistant director-general of the Department of Political Affairs in the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Throughout the 1990s, he was also Lebanon's General Counsel in Los Angeles.
If one is looking for the key to Farid Abboud’s long career, it will likely be found in his rather impressive pursuit of education. He can point to a Diploma of Higher Studies in Political Science from Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Lyon in France. However, he also earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles while he was there.
Farid Abboud is also happy to pass on his knowledge to future generations. In addition to teaching at Université Saint-Joseph for a time, he also served on the Lebanese delegations to numerous international conferences, especially the U.N. General Assembly Sessions from 1997-1999. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Peking since 2015.
